Clear day cables12/25/2023 The standards and performance of Cat 5 cable cover many different attributes. It is recommended however to keep this channel length at short as possible for Cat 5 cable. Cat 5 cable was created for 100Mbps but with the creation of 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet) you are able to run gigabit speeds using the four pairs of Cat 5 cable. With the advancement in technology ethernet standards have been able to maximize the life of Ethernet cable categories. More specifically, Cat5 cable speed is set by TIA/EIA 568-5-A. These guidelines are relative to the market and are formed with many people from the telecom industry to manufacturers. The Cat 5 performance is set by TIA/EIA which are engineering standards set by a group of individuals to give manufacturers, businesses and individuals clear expectations on cable performance. Hands down, the best speaker cable I have owned are the Clear Day Cables Double Shotguns. The best power cords I have owned are Mojo Audio Enigmas. I also own a few Triode Wire Labs cords, which are somewhat warmer sounding but don't sound as extended as the Mojo cords. (Overall, I have found that power cords make a bigger difference to sound quality per dollar spent than interconnects, where differences between good and great are usually fairly subtle.) I have owned Purist Audio Design, Tara Labs, Gabriel Gold, Cardas - none were nearly as good as the Crimsons. If you want something cheaper, Clear Day Cables interconnects are quite good for the money (~$150). The second best were WyWires, which are more expensive than the Crimson Music Links. Austin Hi Fi sends out demos and they are not ridiculously expensive. The best sounding interconnects I have used are Crimson Music Links. I have owned or demo'd a lot of interconnects and power corrds in both my headphone and speaker rigs.
